Sexuality is one of the most sensitive, complex, and at times even embarrassing areas in emotional therapeutic work. Most of us would prefer to address a range of other issues before touching on our own sexuality, to say the least about the sexuality of others. Many therapists, too, tend to avoid engaging with the topic. But sexuality can hold a deep and meaningful potential for healing. One that resonates across many other areas of life.

In her seminal book S.H.I.F.T – Sexual Heeling In Focusing Therapy, expert sexual therapist Kati Kimchi (Focusing Coordinator) offers a groundbreaking new approach to sexual healing through Focusing therapy—.

combining traditional emotional work with somatic experiencing, voice dialogue, family constellation, and other practical tools from various therapeutic methodologies.

In it, she sheds light on the hidden connections between sexual patterns and basic emotional needs like security, attachment, and boundaries, providing readers with a unique toolset for handling the shame, pain, and guilt associated with sexuality.

This is the first time that the unique intersection between the Focusing approach and sex therapy has been systematically explored, articulated, and formulated.

The book distils fifteen years of clinical work, during which Kati Kimchi accompanied and documented the processes of hundreds of men and women in her practice and in the courses she has led.

S.H.I.F.T is written for therapists who wish to deepen their knowledge, expand their clinical tools, and integrate the domain of sexuality into their work, as well as for anyone seeking a clear and grounded map to areas of human experience that have, until now, remained largely uncharted.

A culmination of fifteen years of work and research, SHIFT offers professionals tools and knowledge generally avoided by clinical therapists, as well as a clear and concise roadmap for readers looking to break into unexplored territory—in the bedroom and beyond.
